Clad Joins BSIF and the Registered Safety Supplier Scheme (RSSS)

Set up in 1994, The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) is the UK’s leading trade body within the safety industry. The Federation is the lead association for the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Directive and is recognised as a Competent Authority by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). The BSIF has active links with many government departments and over 130 representative Trade Bodies, and currently has some 160 members including manufacturers, distributors, test houses, certification bodies, safety professionals and service providers.

Clad is proud to announce that we have joined as members of the BSIF, reinforcing our connection with the larger network of bodies leading standards within the safety industry, and further demonstrating our commitment to keeping people safe and healthy at work.

All PPE must be correctly tested and certified to meet the appropriate European standard. Unfortunately the number of cases of counterfeit PPE and counterfeit CE compliance certificates being reported in the UK is on the increase. These fake and falsely certified PPE products often not perform as they should and not only do these sub-standard products expose an organisation to risk of prosecution, but they also put workers at risk of serious injury or worse.

To combat this, the BSIF has introduced the Registered Safety Supplier Scheme (RSSS). This scheme allows members to identify themselves as having made a formal declaration that they are selling only products that are genuine and legal. Every RSSS member is then independently audited every single year, with products being subjected to random testing for performance and compliance to claimed standards.

The Registered Safety Supplier Scheme acts as a signpost for people to ensure they can buy from a reputable company that they can trust to supply genuine legal products and provide good advice.
